I'm probably not the first to notice this, but I haven't seen any speculation out there. Ron Paul looks an awful lot like Ian McKellen. Part the hair a little differently, and he's a dead ringer for Magneto. I'm sure if you stuck him in a fake beard and a pointy gray hat, he'd look like Gandalf.

As someone who has been searching Ron Paul news regularly for a while now, this is the first post I have seen to make the connection. I had never thought of it but those pictures do make it seem so...
By the way.. ever seen the Scarlet Pimpernel? I think it's a great movie, and Ian McKellen was the bad guy in it too - he hasn't changed all that much in 25 years or so :)
I noticed the same thing and had a hard time sleeping that night because every time I'd start to doze off my mind would wander back and i'd be set off giggling again. So I photoshopped a ron paul revolution logo on a pic of magneto in full dress (the helmet helps further) and stuck it on my site.
How funny! I thought of Ian McKellen the first time I saw a picture of Ron Paul, and just out of curiosity, I googled both of their names together and got this site. I too had thought there would've been more comments on the similarity. Haha. Well, if only for making a dead-on Gandalf, RP has my vote!
Damn straight, since the first time that I saw Ron, I said the same thing, COME ON! THAT’S MAGNETO!!!!....jajajaja. I'm watching the news today and that thought struck me back, therefore I goggled both names and here I am; as you said, the match is almost creepy.
